Eldon Samuel Geiman
Eldon Samuel Geiman, 57, of Greencastle, PA passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 7, 2016. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on December 3, 1958, the son of Ralph and Ruby (Trone) Geiman. He was married to Anita Joy (Peterson) Geiman for 36 years. Eldon loved trips to the beach, antiquing with Joy, walking and working out at the gym. Along with Joy, he was a Den Leader with Boy Scout Troop 28 of Mercersburg, experiencing many fun adventures with his sons, David and Matthew.
Eldon was a hard worker. After graduating from Greencastle-Antrim High School in 1977, he worked at several jobs including Grove Manufacturing, 25 years at Spicher’s Appliances, Transply Inc. of Greencastle and most recently was a postal carrier in both Greencastle and Waynesboro. He was an avid radio enthusiast, spending many hours listening to short wave radio, was an Amateur Radio operator for many years under the call sign KA3ZKU, and enjoyed antique radios, Hamfests, Field Day, and Amateur Television. At one time he was a member of Cumberland Valley Amateur Radio Club of Chambersburg, Antietam Radio Association of Hagerstown and Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club.
Eldon was a former member of Grace U.C.C. of Greencastle where he was a Deacon and Elder. For the last 15 years, he was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg where he was a Trustee, member of the Day Care Board and active in various church projects.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Joy, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Anne (Nathan) Rasmussen, Sarah Joy (Shelby) Brant, and son, Matthew James (Amanda) Geiman; three grandchildren, Noah Samuel Geiman, Samuel William Glenn Rasmussen, and Grace Elizabeth Geiman; in-laws Ray and Ruby Peterson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David Samuel Geiman; a sister, Cheryl Ann Geiman (Punt) and brother-in-law, Terry Punt.
Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13 at the First United Methodist Church 11 North Fayette St. Mercersburg, PA with the Rev. Michael Baughman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, August 12 at the church and for one hour before the service on Saturday. Interment will follow at the Broadfording Cemetery near Cearfoss, MD with Pastor Don Woody officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg “Geiman Family Care Fund.” Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
