Zane O. Kiser, age 84 of Greencastle, Pa. entered into eternal rest at 9:04 P.M. Sunday November 7, 2010 in the York Hospital, York, PA.
Born June 13, 1926 in Five Forks, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles William And Minnie (Overcash) Kiser.
Zane owned and operated Kiser Hearing Aid Service, having served the Tri-State area for 40 years. In his younger years he worked as an insurance agent.
He was an active member of the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren where he served on the Church Board. Zane also was a life member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle, former member of the Greencastle Lions Club, served as a volunteer with Hospice, and was a Contact counselor for 19 years. Zane was a 1944 graduate of Quincy High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre as a machinist mate third Class. He enjoyed farming and mowing and was a loving, caring husband and father who took great pride in serving and helping others.
He and his wife, Genevieve (Hykes) Kiser were married October 16, 1948 in Waynesboro. Surviving family in addition to his wife of 62 years are three sons, Dennis Kiser and wife Vicki, Chambersburg, Curt Kiser and wife Tedi, Chesapeake, VA., Charles Kiser and wife Jamie, Greencastle, two daughters, Karen May and husband Doug, Boonsboro, MD., Cheryl Kiser, Greencastle, one brother Lyle Kiser, State Line, 11 Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Maxine Kiser Howe Erving and a brother Lynn "Red" Kiser.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 12 at 11:00 A.M. from the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Revs. Leon Yoder and Harold Yeager officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Friday.
