Winifred K. Adams

Winifred K. (Rider) Adams, age 88, of 3571 Conocoheague Lane, Greencastle, PA died at 7:15 A.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born, February 26, 1921 in Shippensburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Katherine (Evelhoch) Rider.

She and her husband Charles R. Adams Jr. were married in 1955 in Hagerstown, MD. He died on December 22, 2008.

In her earlier years she worked as a fork lift operator at the former Corning Glass of Greencastle. She later retired from the Greencastle-Antrim School District where she worked as a Truant Officer.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church of Greencastle. She was a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 Auxiliary of Greencastle. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, farming, animals, especially taking care of her cats and dogs.

Surviving family are: Son-In-Law, Lewis E. Barmont of Shippensburg, PA. Grandson, Ted Barmont of Newburg, PA. Four Great-Grandchildren. Two Nephews, Van Adams, Jeff Adams and one niece Teresa Hollinger whom she help raise.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kitty Barmont.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA with Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225.
