William E. "Bill" Riordan

Mr. William E. "Bill" Riordan, 81, of Greencastle, died late Thursday morning, July 26, 2012, at The Shook Home, Chambersburg. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Doris Dunegan Riordan, his wife of 57 years.
Born February 1, 1931, in Hastings, he was a son of the late Dennis and Helen Lann Riordan. He graduated Hastings High School in 1949; attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute; and was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Riordan retired from Mack Truck, Hagerstown, in 1987, with twenty-five years of service. Prior to Mack Truck, he was employed with Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown.
He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Greencastle.
Bill was also a member of the Harry D. Zeigler VFW, Post 6319 and the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, both of Greencastle; the Mack Management Club and Golden Bulldogs. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving besides his wife are his children, Barry Riordan and wife Lu Ann of Chambersburg, and Paula Mittel and husband Michael of Hagerstown; four grandchildren Cory Riordan, Stephanie Riordan Stumbaugh and husband Ryan, and Molly and Caleb Mittel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings Rita Hicks, Jane Hunt and Donald Riordan.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Monday, July 30 from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 31, 10 AM, from his church, St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 385 South Ridge Avenue, Greencastle. His pastor, Rev. Joseph L. Stahura, will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Riordan''s name to the Rescue Hose Company Ambulance Squad, sent in care of Rescue Hose Company #1, 842 South Washington Street, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225.
