William C. Harris

William Cyphert Harris, former resident of Bethel Park, PA, and Chambersburg, PA passed from this life on March 23, 2018 at Providence Place, Chambersburg, PA.

Born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania on October 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Madeline Cyphert Harris Shanafelt (Boyd) and late William James Harris. He was married to Faye Ileen Harris who preceded him in death in September 2010.

He was a retired professor having taught at Shippensburg University in the Business Education Department.  Bill received his BS degree in Education (Music) from Indiana State Teachers College, Indiana, PA., and his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MBA from The American University, Washington, D.C.

Surviving family are his one daughter Kimberly Ileen (wife of Michael Campbell, Shippensburg, PA), grandson Patrick Campbell (Harrisburg, PA), granddaughter Heather Ileen Miller (wife of Ryan M. Miller, Pequea, PA), and great-granddaughter McKenna Ileen Miller; Bill's sister Carole Harris Pletcher (wife of Duane Pletcher, Bradenton, Florida), step-brother Dennis Shanafelt (wife Jan) of Curwensville, PA, step-sister Janet Shanafelt Barger (wife of Jack) of DesMoines, Iowa, and step-brother Jerry Shanafelt (wife Elaine) of Ashland, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings Marlene Harris Goldstrom, John (Jack) Harris, and infant brotherRichard Harris.

The family thanks the loving Staff of Providence Place, Chambersburg, as well as Spirit Trust Lutheran of Chambersburg for their support.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington, PA at the convenience of the family. Arrangements handled by the Harrold M Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home of Greencastle, PA.
