Walter E. Hoover, age 95 a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, Pa died Thursday July 17, 2014 at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.

Born September 29, 1918 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Mattie Fern (Martin) Hoover. He married Ruth H. (Wolfensberger) Hoover on December 30, 1939. She died on May 27, 2001.
Walter retired from Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove and had previously worked as a truck driver and mechanic at D.A. Wishard Trucking of Waynesboro. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II.
Walter was a member of the Salem Reformed Church of Hagerstown, the Waynesboro American Legion Post #15 and a life member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle.

Surviving family are one daughter Jean (Mrs. Joseph) Carbaugh of Greencastle, two grandchildren Tammy Bakalarski and husband John, Kimberly Sellers and husband William, six great-grandchildren Noah and Matthew Bakalarski, Joseph and Kaylynn Sellers, Nevin Daley, Kieth Beall, one sister, I. Mae Seylar of Chambersburg, four brothers, Joe Hoover of  Berlin, MD,   Richard Hoover, of Fort Loudon, PA, J. Dean Hoover of Hagerstown, Aldus Hoover of Waynesboro and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter Nancy Daley, son-in-law Bob Daley, one grandson Nevin Daley and five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 23 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Steve Wagoner officiating. Burial with military graveside honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Salem Reformed Church Cemetery in Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Salem Reformed Church P.O.
