Wade W. Bingaman, age 96, a resident of the Heritage Hills Retirement Community in Greencastle and formerly of Scar Hill Rd. Greencastle died Saturday morning January 23, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born, February 22, 1924 in Antrim Twp., Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late William B. and Maggie Belle (Snider) Bingaman. He married his wife Violet M. (Christophel) Bingaman on May 9, 1942 in Hagerstown. She died on February 11, 2009.
Wade retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Following his retirement, he delivered travel trailers for Prowler Industries all along the east coast. Wade also did auto body work on the side and in 1963 built the trailer park along Rt. 81 at State Line. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army Air Corps 315th Bomb Group.
He was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle, where he taught Sunday School for 25 years, served on the church board and as a church trustee and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Wade was a member of the Greencastle American Legion, attended the Greencastle Senior Center and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his mountain cabin.
Surviving family are, two daughters, Betty L. Cordell and husband Robert of State Line, PA, Shari A. Myers and husband Tom of Boonsboro, MD; one son, Gary E. Bingaman and wife Karen of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Rick Cordell and wife Deana of Greencastle, Diana Ardinger and husband Luther of Martinsburg, WV, Hannah Myers of Boonsboro, MD and Zachary McLeod also of Boonsboro, MD; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Cordell and wife Rachelle of Springfield, IL, Danny Goodyear and wife Daphene of Gettysburg, PA, Raven Ardinger and Khloe Ardinger, both of Martinsburg, WV ; two great-great grandchildren, Elijah and Zoe Cordell of Springfield, Ill and one sister, Vera Christophel of Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Lloyd Bingaman and John Bingaman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 29 at 11:00 AM at the Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA with Pastors Gayle L. Ruble Sr. and Brian Black officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trustee Fund of the Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225.
