Virginia J. (Sellers) Murray

Virginia J. (Sellers) Murray, age 93, a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg and formerly of Apple Dr. Greencastle, passed away Wednesday morning December 21, 2016 at Menno Haven.

Born March 26, 1923 in Wingerton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Elizabeth J. (Shank) Sellers. Her husband Harry M. “Mac” Murray died December 16, 1991.

During World War II, she was a federal employee in Washington DC.  Virginia was a loving  caretaker for her husband for many years and was a homemaker. She graduated in 1941 from Greencastle High School.

Virginia was a member of the Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 of Greencastle, charter and life member of the Greencastle V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Grace United Church of Christ of Greencastle where she served as an elder and on various church committees. She enjoyed being with and helping out her loving family.

Surviving family are two sons, Mark L. Murray and wife Denise L. of Waynesboro, Michael L. Murray and wife Susan of Greencastle, four grandchildren, Mark Murray, Chad Murray, Amy Seiders, Nick Murray, 8 great-grandchildren, Aleynna, Ethan, Rion, Benjamin, Mary, Grace, Rachel and Liam.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Ann Copenhaver, three brothers, Joseph Sellers, Mark Sellers and Atlee Sellers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 27 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Chaplain Lori Witmer officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
