Violet E. Cunningham, age 93 of 548 North Allison St., Greencastle, PA died at 11:40 P.M. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born, June 28, 1917 in Montgomery Twp., Franklin County, PA she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Cora Elsie (Rubeck) Palmer.
She and her husband, Walter Glenn Cunningham were married September 4, 1940 in Frederick, MD. He died on June 25, 2001.
Violet was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at the former Stanley Company of Chambersburg.
Surviving family are one daughter Joan M. Slye of Chambersburg; one son Stephen G. Cunningham of Greencastle and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
