Vincent J. Phelan

Vincent J. Phelan, age 86 of Apple Dr. Greencastle, PA died at 10:12 PM Saturday, November 28, 2015 in his home.
Born April 2, 1929 in Weehawken, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Ryan) Phelan. His first wife Marie M. (Kelly) Phelan died August 13, 1987. His second wife of 20 years, Nancy Alice (Barnhart) Spessard Phelan died January 16, 2011.
Vince retired from Mack Truck of Hagerstown in 1986 where he worked as a traffic manager. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II.
Vince was a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle, member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle and a member of the American Legion Post #42 of Hagerstown, MD.
He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman Association, past president of the Traffic Club and past president of the National Defense Transportation Association, both of Hagerstown. He had served on the Antrim Twp. Zoning Board and was a past president of the Moss Spring Swim Club of Greencastle.
He is survived by one step-son Jerry Spessard and wife Debbie of Mercersburg, PA, two step-daughters, Darla Springer and husband Pete of Hedgesville, WV, Jolinda Beers and husband Rob of Keymar, MD and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a sister Joan Olsen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 2 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church 395 S. Ridge Ave. Greencastle with Rev. Joseph L. Stahura officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church P.O Box 218 Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W.
