Vera Horst Hege, age 80 a resident of the Mennonite Fellowship Home 12349 Huyett Lane Hagerstown, Md. died at 4:12 A.M. Thursday, February 21, 2008 in the home.
Born June 27, 1927 in Maugansville, Md. she was the daughter of the late Jonas E. And Nancy M. (Horst) Horst.
She worked in housekeeping and in home nursing care. Mrs. Hege was a member of the Reiff Mennonite
Church near Cearfoss, Md.
She and her husband, Elvin M. Hege were married on May 20, 1995. He died on on August 7, 2007.
Surviving family are:
Three step-daughters, Esther Showalter of Greencastle, Pa., Anna Lois Beverly of Eustis, Florida and Mary Lou Landis of South Boston Virginia.
Three Step-sons, Clair L. Hege of Stockbridge, Georgia, Dr. Darvin L. Hege of Atlanta Georgia and Joseph L. Hege of Oviedo, Florida.
Two sisters, Rhoda Lehman, Chambersburg, Pa. and Fannie Horst of Hagerstown, Md.
One brother, Alvin Horst, Big, Pool, Md.
Sixteen step-grandchildren
Five step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Eby, Esther McLaughlin, Ruth Burkholder, Alice Horst and half-sister Catherine Robinson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. from the Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss, Md. with the Reiff Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Reiff Mennonite Church on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 P.M.- 3:30 P.M. and one hour before the service on Monday. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given to Hospice Of Washington County 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, Md. 21740. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
