Thomas “Tom” Morris Pearson, Jr., age 74, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Brookview Healthcare Center. Born in Alexandria, VA on April 26, 1947, he was a son of the late Thomas M. Pearson Sr., and Hattie Vivian Thompson-Pearson.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Tom served honorably as a radio mechanic on the U.S.S. Independence, during the Vietnam Conflict, where he installed closed circuit television on the entire ship. He worked as a Circuit Design Engineer for The RF&P and CSX railroads for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. He then went to work for Southwest Signal in 2009 then retired. Tom enjoyed golf, restoring old cars, and spending time in his garage fixing things. Tom will always be remembered for his love for family, always trying to make people laugh and his willingness to help anyone in need.
Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Sandra Cary Pearson; two children, Stephen Pearson (wife Natasha) and daughter, Traci Hudson; two step-children, Jonathan Hunter (wife Tara) and Jeffrey Hunter; seven grandchildren, Thomas Dane Hudson, Hattie, Sarah, and John Pearson, Garrett, Alec, and Erica Hunter; three siblings, Terry Pearson (wife Maggie), Tammy Troupe (husband Larry), and Tresa Brown (husband Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison “Maddie” Hudson and step-daughter in law, Monica Hunter.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
