Thomas S. Myers

Thomas S. Myers, age 67 of 46 Miller Rd. Chambersburg, Pa. died at 12:05 A.M. Friday September 9, 2011 in his home.

Born May 5, 1944 in Waynesboro, PA., he was the son of the late Robert T. and Ethel V. "Sally" (DeLauder) Myers.
Tom was employed at Grove Worldwide of Shady Grove, Rainsoft of Greencastle and last retired from JLG.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served as a medic. He and his late father were the first father and son Post Commanders of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle.

Tom was a 1962 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. He was a member and past commander of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319, member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 of Greencastle. He played basketball in high school, softball in the Grove League and threw horseshoes for the V.F.W. He enjoyed animals, watching NFL Football, NASCAR races, Penn State football, professional wrestling and collecting coins.

Surviving family are three daughters Michele Myers (husband David) Coletta of Chambersburg, Angel (husband Mike) Myers, Mercersburg, Lacey Appenzellar (husband Ronald) Ziegler, Millersville, MD, life partner Linda Hartman, Chambersburg, grandchildren Jeremy Frey, Brooke Coletta, Ally Coletta, Michael Myers, Holly Barnhart and Amanda Myers, one great-grandson Benjamin Young, two sisters, Bonnie L. (husband Elam) Oberholzer, Greencastle, Susan D. (husband Calvin) Bonebrake, Greencastle and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 13 at 1:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor David Biser officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. where the Greencastle V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at 7:30 P.M.
