Mr. Thomas Mentzer Lanehart, 59, of Greencastle, died Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2014, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born November 24, 1954, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Roberta Wilhide Lanehart, of Greencastle, and of the late Jack A. Lanehart, who died in 2006.
Known by many as “Tommy”, he graduated summa cum laude from Shippensburg University in 1999. He was employed with Frick Company, now Johnson Controls, Waynesboro, with 37 years of combined service. He was a Gauge Calibration Inspector, Tool Maker, and CNC Machine Operator
Additionally, Tommy served as Committeeman and Union Plant Chairman for the UAW Local 1296.
He also worked with HMW Enterprises of Waynesboro.
As a car enthusiast, Tommy enjoyed working on his Camero and truck.
Surviving besides his mother are sons, Thomas M. Lanehart, Jr., of Greencastle, and Tyler M. Lanehart of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jackson and Jailyn; sisters, Julie Deardorff of York, Laura Petershim and husband Laverne of Greencastle, and Lisa Sankbeil and husband Edward of Georgia; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Tuesday, April 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 10:30 AM, at Quincy Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Quincy. Rev. W. Andrew Ficks, of The Faith Church of God Harbor Light, Chambersburg, will officiate.
