Thelma M. Zeigler Martin, age 95 a resident of Menno Haven Chambersburg, Pa. and formerly of 12602 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Greencastle, Pa. died at 9:45 P.M. Friday, March 14, 2008 in the nursing home.
Born May 9, 1912 in Montgomery Twp. Franklin County Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Alice (Sites) Eshelman.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she was employed at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, as a waitress at Sunnyway Diner and as a bookkeeper for her first husbands milk hauling route.
Mrs. Martin was a 74 year member of the State Line United Methodist Church where she sang on the choir and had served as choir director and organist. She was a member of the former Rescue Hose Co. #1 drill team and had attended the Greencastle Senior Center. She enjoyed oil painting and she received several painting awards and she also enjoyed making ceramics.
Her first husband, George Frederick Zeigler died on September 12, 1968 and her second husband Adin K. "A.K." Martin died March 20, 2001.
Surviving family are:
Two daughters, Betty Z. Stottlemyer of Williamsport, Md. and Doris Beyard Royer of Hagerstown, Md.
and daughter-in-law, Madeline Zeigler, Myersville, Md.
Three grandsons and Four great-grandchildren
One step-son, Robert L. Martin of Hagerstown, Md. and two nieces
Numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by: a son Clyde H. "Bobby" Zeigler on Sept. 4, 1987, an infant sister Miriam Eshelman, step-son Harold L. Martin and a half-brother Carlton Wishard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 19 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Dwaine Krebs officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 P.M.
