Thelma J. Cordell

Thelma J. (Nisewonder) Cordell, age 75 of 234 East Baltimore St. Greencastle, PA. died unexpectedly at 2:45 P.M. Sunday August 7, 2011 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born March 21, 1936 in Greencastle, PA., she was the daughter of the late John J. and Lucy V. (Weaver) Nisewonder. She and her husband, Charles E. Cordell were married July 21, 1958. He died on July 26, 2010.

In her earlier life she worked at the Frick Co. Waynesboro and last worked at Corning Glass Credit Union of Greencastle. Thelma was a 1954 graduate of Greencastle High School. She enjoyed being with her family and having her cats.

Surviving family are one son Charles E. Cordell Jr., MD., Marlton, N.J., one daughter Michelle V. (wife of Paul) Benchoff, Fayetteville, PA., two grandchildren Chad and Andrew, one sister Mitsie (wife of Bill) Shatzer, Greencastle, PA. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Franklin "Boots" Nisewander and a sister Nancy Angle.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday August 11 at 2:00 P.M. from the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle with Chaplain John Winckler officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 - 2 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle.
