Sylvia M. Weaver
Sylvia M. (Mong) Weaver, age 88 a resident of the Quincy Retirement Home and formerly of Scott Rd. Zullinger died at 5:07 A.M. Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the retirement home.
Born May 14, 1924 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late David and Lillian (Kendall) Mong. She and her husband Andrew J. Weaver were married May 6, 1944. He died on May 12, 1988.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at the former Waynesboro Knitting Mill. Sylvia was a member of the Welty Church of The Brethren in Greensburg, Maryland where she assisted with the children''s Sunday School.
She was an author of a booklet of poetry, enjoyed painting, collecting dolls and traveling in her later years.
Surviving family are one son Scott E. Weaver of Waynesboro, one daughter Patricia M. (husband Edward C. Sr.) Gebhart of Waynesboro with whom Sylvia resided with for 20 years, three sisters, Helen McCardell of Chambersburg, Charlotte Heefner of Waynesboro , Margaret Bennett of Alabama, two grandchildren Donna R. Stutzman and Edward C. Gebhart Jr., two great-grandchildren Nathan and Lindsay Stutzman.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Sylvia Ann Weaver who died in 1963 and by seven brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 9 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Mike Manthos officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Welty Church of The Brethren 13465 Greensburg Road Smithsburg, Maryland 21783.
