Shirley M. Swisher

Shirley M. Swisher, age 64 of 4700 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle, Pa. died at 10:15 A.M. Sunday March 15, 2009 in the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born June 19, 1944 in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stanley L. and Claire E. (Carbaugh) Gelsinger.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she was a seamstress at the former Stanley Co. Chambersburg.

Mrs. Swisher was a member of the Mt. Tabor Brethren In Christ Church near Mercersburg. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society with their Daffodil Days.

She enjoyed making crafts, gardening, dancing and spending time with her friends.
She and her husband, Jerry B. Swisher Sr. were married September 1, 1961. He died on September 22, 1992.

Surviving family are one son, Jerry B. Swisher Jr. , Waynesboro, Pa., daughter, Lucinda L. Hilde, Selah, Washington, one brother Melvin Gelsinger, Greencastle, Pa., granddaughter, Cassandra Withers, Yakima, Washington and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 19 at 1:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Kevin Lay officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
