Shirley Mae Monn

Shirley Mae Monn, 80, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at her home. Born February 18, 1943 in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Roger Frederick Bowman and Anna Marie Maus Bowman.

Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the former Shippensburg Teacher’s College in 1965 and also her Master’s degree in Education from Shippensburg in 1968. She was employed as a 1st grade teacher for 28 years in Greencastle until her retirement. Shirley attended St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waynesboro. She loved tending to her garden and flower beds. She also enjoyed painting pictures.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronald David Monn, whom she married on February 25, 1967; and one sister, Jean Marie Gay of Billings, MT. Aside from her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Bowman and Nancy Law.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA 17225. Services and interment will be private. Condolences may be shared at zimmermanfh.com.
