Shirley A. Helman, age 76 of Rock Hill Rd. Waynesboro, PA died unexpectedly at 12:17 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born October 13, 1936 in Quincy Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Sr. and Esther Ruth (Henry) Helman.
Shirley was currently employed as a cashier at Walmart of Chambersburg and had previously worked at Hardee''s in Greencastle and at the Waynesboro Shoe Factory.
She was a member of the Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church near Chambersburg. Shirley enjoyed being with her grandchildren, reading, working with flowers, needlework and bowling in the Nellie Fox Church League. She was a graduate of the former Quincy High School.
Surviving family are one son Allen W. Helman, Waynesboro, six sisters, Joretta Wise and Esther Beaver, both of Waynesboro, Melzina Dice, Alma Walter both of Chambersburg, Pauline Seibert, Spring Run, PA, Evelyn Oaks, Clear Spring, MD, four brothers Robert Helman Jr., West Virginia, Ronald Helman, Leonard Helman and Elwood Helman all of Chambersburg, six grandchildren Clarissa Elsie Helman, Laurel Elyssa (husband Andrew) Doub, Janelle Morgan (husband Taylor) Christensen, Spencer Jerel Helman, Brandon Sterling Helman, Kirsten Paige Helman, daughter-in-law Carol Ann (Carlson) Helman, Waynesboro and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother Harold Helman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 24 at 11:00 A.M. from the Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church 4025 Fetterhoff Chapel Rd. Chambersburg with Rev. Matthew Plant officiating. Burial will be in the Falling Spring Reformed Mennonite Church Cemetery in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
