Shirley K. (Rock) Barnes, age 78 of Park View Dr. Chambersburg, PA died at 7:04 PM Sunday February 2, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born January 27, 1936 in Pond Bank, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Naomi R. (Hess) Rock. She married Richard E. Barnes Sr. on March 25, 1956 in Hagerstown. She had worked at the former Stanley Co. and Shoney’s Restaurant of Chambersburg, Sunnyway Foods of Chambersburg in the deli and at the former Better Foods of Greencastle. She enjoyed   babysitting children for a number of years.

Shirley attended the Ebenezer “Guiters” United Brethren Church near Greencastle. Her interests included cooking, baking pies and cakes, camping and going to Myrtle Beach. She was a 1954 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one son Richard E. Barnes Jr. of Breezewood, PA, one daughter, Kimberly S. (husband Mark) Leasure of Chambersburg, two grandchildren, Parker Barnes and Jennifer Lynn Barnes, two great-grandchildren, Cameron Updegraff and Gabriel Updegraff, three brothers, Omar Rock, Daniel Rock, Raymond Rock all of Pond Bank and one sister Ruth Bumbaugh of Pond Bank.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, one granddaughter and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 6 at 11:00 AM from the Ebenezer “Guitners” United Brethren Church 3661 Williamson Road Greencastle with Rev. Jim Mack officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM and one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Ebenezer “Guitners” United Brethren Church 3661 Williamson Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
