Shawn William Schaeffer, 56, of Greencastle, PA, died on October 22, 2024 at Wellspan Chambersburg Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Winchester, VA on September 3, 1968 to William and Darlis (Gump) Schaeffer. Shawn grew up in Chambersburg, PA. He was a 1986 graduate of CASHS, where he participated in Choristers, Glee Club, and the school’s golf team.
Shawn earned an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology degree from Hagerstown Business College in 2002. Over the years, Shawn worked at the former Grove Worldwide for 14 years, he was also a talented finish carpenter for many years, however he was last employed in the IT field for many years, including working for the Waynesboro Area School District, Franklin County, and DCM, Inc..
Shawn met the love of his life, Sarah, in 2004 while seeing a band at a local bar. It was a by chance meeting on the dance floor, and their love for music and dancing carried on throughout their 20 years together. They found a love - a striking one - and claimed it. They were married on March 28, 2007.
Shawn and Sarah brought two beautiful children into the world, William Dale and Elica Wave. In addition to his children with Sarah, he has two more beautiful children from a previous marriage, Jessica Lyn and Loren William. He found joy whenever visiting them and his 6 grandchildren. He was a proud dad and Pop Pop of all his children and grandchildren. He loved them deeply.
Shawn will always be remembered for his laid back style, quick wit, infectious smile, and laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His passions were golf, drumming, plants, and keeping up with politics and world events. In his younger years, he enjoyed caving and rock climbing with dear friends who still remained close to his heart. He would often reminisce and share fond memories about his brothers and friends from his childhood and teenage years. Many of those stories would give him and anyone who heard them a good laugh.
Shawn had excellent taste in music, and he and his wife hosted jams at their home where he could drum to his heart’s content. He always looked forward to a good jam session.
To know Shawn was to love him. He always made connections with anyone he met. You felt loved and special in his presence. He was truly one of a kind.

In honor of Shawn’s memory, grab yourself some sushi and an ice cold IPA, listen to some Grateful Dead while wearing your favorite tie dye. Then love your family and friends hard. Forgive and forget. All he wanted was peace and one love.
