Scott J. Vinck

April 20, 1979 — June 11, 2019

Scott J. Vinck

Scott James Vinck, age 40, of Cambridge, MD and formerly of Hagerstown died unexpectedly Tuesday June 11, 2019 in his home.

Born April 20, 1979 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL, he was the son of Connie M. (Wolff) Vinck of Fayetteville, PA and the late Julien W. “Chip” Vinck Jr.

Scott was a chef and was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph High School in Baltimore and attended Penn State University for 2 years. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the US Navy.  In his younger years he played baseball and football with the Eagles Midget Football team and lacrosse when he was in in high school.

Scott was an amazing person with a huge heart and charming wit. He strived to be the best father he could be to his sons. He loved cooking, cars, fishing and serving the Lord by helping others struggling with addiction. All of the wonderful blessings that he had, talent, friendships, but most of all, family were sidelined by a bad decision to do drugs. Scott battled with drug addiction for many years. In the end, his addiction ended his life much too early. He successfully completed drug rehab multiple times, but the craving that comes from true addiction was more than he could overcome.

Scott’s family asks that you please pay attention to your loved ones and the world that revolves around them. Even when the surface is calm, the water may be turbulent just beneath. To all those battling addiction, this is a simple reminder that there are people who love you, with everything they have, no matter what you’ve done. Don’t be too afraid or ashamed to ask for help. Scott’s battle has ended now. He is finally at peace.

Surviving family in addition to his mother is  two sons, Jackson Scott Deresinski of Florida, Cole E. Cray of Fayetteville, PA, grandmother, Marie I. Wolff of Greencastle, half-sister, Nicole E. (Kenneth) Thrift of Taneytown, MD, half-brother, Gregory (Melinda) Vinck, Canton, GA, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews , cousins and friends.
