Samuel W. Kennedy, age 71 a resident of ManorCare Health Services Chambersburg, PA. and formerly of Dry Run, PA. died at 3:30 A.M. Monday February 14, 2011 in the nursing home.
Born December 10, 1939 in Waynesboro, PA., he was the son of the late Ralph F. and Anna Mary (Hykes) Kennedy.
He was a life long dairy farmer. Sam was a member of the Blairs Mill Brethren In Christ Church and Nova Ruritan Club.
Sam was a 1958 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He enjoyed hunting, camping and throwing horseshoes.
Surviving family are two sons, Samuel Eugene Kennedy, Mount Holly Springs, PA., Michael W. Kennedy, Fannettsburg, PA., two daughters, Roxanne M. Kennedy, Newtown, PA., Renee L. Kennedy, Chambersburg, PA., six brothers, Norman Kennedy, Greencastle, PA., Charles Kennedy, North East, PA., Isaac Kennedy, Pittsburgh, PA., Jerome Kennedy, Waynesboro, PA., Ronald Kennedy, Greencastle, PA., Phillip Kennedy, Mercersburg, PA., two sisters, Louisa Bair, Chambersburg, PA., Dorothy Martin, Mercersburg, PA., ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and former wife Esther Myers Kennedy, Chambersburg, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Paul Kennedy and an infant brother Ralph Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 17 at 10:30 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Doug Lichty officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Brethren In Christ World Missions 431 Grantham Rd. P.O. Box 390 Grantham, PA. 17027.
