Samuel B. Forney, age 58 of Greencastle, PA died at 5:06 AM Sunday, November 10, 2013 in his home. He had been in declining health the past several months.

Born September 25, 1955 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of Harold B. and K. Joanne (Brewbaker) Forney of Greencastle.

Mr. Forney was employed for 32 years as the high school band director for the Greencastle-Antrim School District where he directed the field band, concert band, indoor guard and percussion and jazz ensemble.  He dedicated his life to his music programs.

He was a 1973 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School, 1977 graduate of West Chester University in West Chester, PA and also received his master’s degree in music from West Chester University. Sam was a member of the Franklin-Fulton  County Music Educators Association.

Surviving family in addition to his parents are one brother Joel L. Forney of Marion, PA, two aunts, Rhoda Forney and Gladys Fritz, both of Greencastle and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 14 at 2:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church 45 North Washington St. Greencastle with Rev. Stacy Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery in Kauffman, PA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open after 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
