Ruth W. Shives

Ruth W. Shives, age 81 of 384 North Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 6:29 P.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg where she had resided since August 13.

Born July 28, 1929 in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Olive (Tosten) Wallech.

She had retired from Rite Aid having worked at the Greencastle store for 40 years as an assistant manager and clerk.

She was a member of the Greencastle Church of The Brethren. Ruth was a 50 year member and past matron of the Mount Vernon Order of Eastern Star Chapter #398 of Waynesboro. She was a member and past president of the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club and a member of the M & T Bank GO Club.

She and her husband, Walter E. "Bill" Shives were married August 24, 1951. Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Susan M. Angle, Greencastle, four sons, Alan R. Shives, Jeffrey E. Shives, Gary L. Shives, Terry L. Shives, all of Greencastle, Pa., six grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson Dale Angle II, sisters Pearl Wincer, Grace Vasquez and half brother Roy Tosten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 21 at 2:30 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. David G. Rawley officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
