Ruth H. (Burkett) Nichols, age 90 of Marsh Rd. Waynesboro, PA died at 2:15 AM Monday, August 17, 2015 in the Quincy Village Nursing Center.
Born March 15, 1925 in Halfway, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Allen T. and Nettie (Kendall) Burkett. She married James R. “Juni” Nichols Sr. on November 29, 1947. He died on October 23, 2011.
She had worked at Hugo’s Pizza in Hagerstown, Overly-Raker in McConnellsburg and retired from the former Rocky Ridge Farm Market of State Line where she worked in the bakery.
Ruth in her younger years had attended the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church near Waynesboro where she was active with the church sewing circle.
She enjoyed making quilts, cake decorating and especially liked visiting with her family and friends. Aunt Ruth will always be remembered by her many nieces and nephews for her unselfish acts of kindness.
Surviving family are her one son James R. Nichols Jr. of Waynesboro, PA, step-granddaughter,
Valerie Wiser of Walnut Bottom, PA, step-grandson, Jerry M. Provard of Williamson, PA, five step-great-grandchildren and one sister Mildred Hanna of Montgomery, AL.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 1:30 PM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. James Sollenberger officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
