Ruth Myers

Ruth K. Myers, age 86 a resident of ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg and formerly of Mercersburg, Pa. died at 11:50 P.M. Monday October 6, 2008 in the nursing home. She had been in declining health the past several years.

Born April 11, 1922 in Edenville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George D. "Dewey" and Mary Elsie (Diffenderfer) Stoner.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Assembly Of God Church of Mercersburg and was a 1942 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She and her husband, Ralph M. Myers Jr. were married September 18, 1947 in Hagerstown. He died on October 5, 2003.

Surviving family are two daughters, Juanita (Mrs. Richard E.) Cordell, Chambersburg and Theresa (Mrs. Rich) Harmon, Mercersburg.

Two brothers, Raymond Stoner, Hanover, Pa. and John W. Stoner, Newport News, Va.

Five Grandchildren, Tony Lynn Barber, Christopher Harmon, Heather Harmon, Jasmine Cordell and Destiny Cordell and one great-granddaughter Hannah Evans.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Fred Stoner and Robert Stoner and one sister Bernice Stoner.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 11 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastors Rodger and Donna Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Saturday.
