Ruth B. (Blackhurst) McCutcheon, age 84 of 13391 Williamsport Pike Greencastle, Pa. died at 8:35 P.M. Sunday, July 18, 2010 in ManorCare Health Services Chambersburg, Pa. where she had been a resident since April.

Born November 23, 1925 in Cass, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Allen J. and Bessie (Kee) Blackhurst.

Ruth was a school teacher in a one room school in Spruce, WV., employed in the U.S. House of Representatives for the Speaker Of The House Sam Rayburn, worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Idaho Falls, Idaho, worked in the U.S. Dept. Of The Navy and was a homemaker.

She attended West Virginia University and Strayer College in Washington D.C.
Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star in Cass, WV., served as a leader in Jobs Daughters and Girl Scouts, former member of the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club, member of the Upton Homemakers and attended the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle. She enjoyed being with her family, oil painting, doing arts and crafts and collecting books.

She and her husband, Robert D. McCutcheon were married October 10, 1947 in Cass, WV.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Suzanne (wife of Don) Ney, Mt. Vernon, WA., son Robert D. (husband of Debra) McCutcheon II, Frederick, MD. and eight grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by a daughter Rachel M. McCutcheon on August 3, 2002 and by three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 22 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA. with Pastor Richard Overcash officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening 6 - 8 P.M. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00 P.M. from the Arbovale Cemetery in Arbovale, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her name to the charity of one''s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
