Ruth Mae (Negley) Haldeman
Ruth Mae (Negley) Haldeman, age 91 of Penn Hall, Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle died at 12:20 PM Saturday March 29, 2014 in the Penn Hall Nursing Center.
Born April 6, 1922 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rhoda (Grabill) Negley. Her husband Bruce K. Haldeman died January 12, 2005.
Mrs. Haldeman graduated from Lemasters High School in 1940 and was valedictorian of her class. She worked at the former Stanley Co. Chambersburg for a short time but was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening. Ruth was a member of the Shanks Church of the Brethren of Greencastle, PA.
Surviving family are four sons Benjamin I. Haldeman and wife Kathryn, Clement L. Haldeman and wife Donna, Bruce N. Haldeman and wife Lisa, all of Greencastle, PA, Clarence D. Haldeman of Lowville, NY, three sisters Rhoda Gayman, resident of Penn Hall, Chambersburg, Naomi Hunsberger, St. Thomas, PA and Bertha Kenepp, resident of Menno Haven Chambersburg, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 4 at 10:30 AM from the Shanks Church of the Brethren on Shanks Church Rd. Greencastle with Minister David Stahl officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Penn Hall Benevolent Care Fund 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Cumberland Valley Relief Center 4225 Molly Pitcher Hwy.
