Ruth E. Grove

Ruth E. (Stouffer) Grove, age 98, a resident of the Magnolias of Chambersburg and formerly of Mercersburg and Greencastle died at 1:15 PM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Magnolias.

Born May 7, 1918 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late D. Horatio and Susan Elizabeth (Johnson) Stouffer. She married John E. Grove on May 12, 1938. He died on February 2, 2001.

Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Upton Church of the Brethren and the Women’s Work of the church. She volunteered with the Release Time Bible Program of Camp Joy El. Ruth enjoyed quilting and making various hand crafts.

Family surviving are two daughters Doris (Mrs. Martin) Musser of Mercersburg, Joyce (Mrs. Meredith) Miller of Manheim, PA, three sons, Robert (husband of Norma) Grove of Greencastle, Lawrence (husband of Lois) Grove of Chambersburg, Vaughn (husband of Sue) Grove of Greencastle, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 21 at 10:30 AM from the Upton Church of the Brethren 8490 Warm Spring Rd. Greencastle with Rev. Garnet Myers and Rev. Duane Hawbaker officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Camp Joy El Bible Time Release Program 3741 Joy-El Drive, Greencastle, PA 17225.
