Mrs. Ruth Naomi Koons Crunkleton, 92, of Greencastle, died Saturday evening, June 8, 2013, at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, where she has resided for the past nine weeks. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Crunkleton, who preceded her in death on February 26, 2012.
Born October 18, 1920, in the Broadfording area of Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late George Clinton and Rayetta Pittenger Koons.
In her early years, during World War II, Mrs. Crunkleton worked for M. P. Moller Pipe Organ Company, Hagerstown. Additionally, she worked for Mace Binkley''s Store and the State Line Post Office. Lastly, she co-owned Colonial Flower Shop, Greencastle.
Ruth was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle.
Surviving is her son, Ronald E. Koons and wife Dolly of Greencastle; her grandchildren, Scott E. and Matthew J. Koons; as well as her great grandchildren, Ethan J., Joseph E. and Erin R. Koons; her siblings Melvin Koons and wife Betty of Chambersburg, and Nancy L. Cophenhaver and husband Joe of Greencastle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by siblings Harry and Donald Koons, Margaret Brewbaker, and Annabelle Mummert.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Friday, June 14, from 9:30 until time of services at 10:30 AM. Her pastor, Rev. Martin H. Horn, will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to her church, Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 North Washington Street, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225.
