Ruth H. Burkholder, age 82 of 1210 Mason Dixon Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died at 1:50 A.M. Monday, March 19, 2007 in her home.
Born August 11, 1924 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Jonas E. and Nancy H. (Horst) Horst.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Paradise Mennonite Church of Hagerstown, Md. She and her husband, Martin L. Burkholder were married January 10, 1946.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are:
Three Daughters, Naomi C. Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Sarah L. Burkholder, at home and Elizabeth M. Petre of Greencastle, Pa.
Four Sons, John E. Burkholder of Waynesboro, Pa., Nathan E. Burkholder of Sharpsburg, Md., Daniel L. Burkholder of Carlisle, Pa. and James R. Burkholder of Hagerstown, Md.
Three Sisters, Rhoda Lehman of Chambersburg, Pa., and Fannie Horst and Vera Horst both of Hagerstown, Md.
One Brother, Alvin Horst of Big Pool, Md.
Forty -Two grandchildren Twelve great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by: an infant daughter Rebecca Burkholder in 1960, three sisters Edna Eby, Esther McLaughlin and Alice Horst and a half-sister Catherine Robinson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday morning March 23 at 10:00 A.M. from the Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg, Md. with the Paradise and Millers Mennonite Church Ministries officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Paradise Mennonite Church on Airview Rd. Hagerstown on Thursday from 1 - 3 P.M. and 6 - 8 P.M. and on Friday at Millers Mennonite Church one hour before the service. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
