Russell L. Everetts

Russell L. Everetts, age 85, of Greencastle, PA passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in the Waynesboro Hospital. Born on December 12, 1938, in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Norman and Emma (Zeger) Everetts.

Mr. Everetts was a 1958 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg State College in 1962. Mr. Everetts began his teaching career in mathematics at the James Buchanan Middle School. He left teaching and was sales manager at the former Fox Buick of Greencastle. Mr. Everetts then returned to teaching at the Greencastle-Antrim Middle School, retiring in 2001. Mr. Everetts was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin, hunting, riding his tractor and farming, his dogs and being with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving family are his wife, Jane (Fox) Everetts whom he married August 22, 1965; two sons, Doug Everetts (wife Chrissy) and Andy Everetts (wife Jen) both of Greencastle, PA; sister Alice Marie Stewart of Montrose, MI; three grandchildren Taylor, Quinn and Grant; a nephew, Shane Stewart and a niece, Carrie Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Jane and Dorothy Everetts.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 AM in the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, 57 West Baltimore Street, Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 6 until 8 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
