Ruby B. Pentz, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Paramount Nursing Home with her family by her side. Born June 25, in Fayetteville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. Cook and Grace Shatzley Peters.
Ruby worked as a cafeteria supervisor at the Chambersburg Hospital for 25 years, before her retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruby enjoyed crafting, gardening, yard sailing, and going to auctions with her family. Ruby was a wonderful cook, and very dedicated to her family, she always wanted them all to know how much she loved them.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Joe H. Pentz; her son, Leon R. Baer (Lorraine) of Warrenton, VA and Amy Bracken of Marion, PA; six grandchildren, Fagel Baer of Virginia Beach, VA, Meyrem Gibbons (Brent) of Arlington, VA, Dallas Bracken (Hannah) of Honolulu, HI, Abram Baer of Warrenton, VA, Madyson Bracken of Chambersburg, PA, and Grace Bracken of Marion, PA; two great-grandchildren, Arya and Odin Bracken of Honolulu, HI; and siblings, Janet Bonner of Waynesboro, PA and Thomas Cook, Sr. (Joyce) of Mercersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John E. Cook, Jr., Calvin B. “Ben” Cook, Kenneth E. Cook, and Peggy M. Faust.
In accordance with her wishes, the family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
