Ruby Cornelia (Zeger) Oberholzer

Ruby Cornelia Zeger Oberholzer, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Shady Grove, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Chambers Pointe Health Care. Born September 3, 1928, in Quincy, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Cornelia Gearhart Zeger.

Mrs. Oberholzer was a 1946 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. She went on to work as a homemaker and later as a secretary for 23 years at Hess Medical Clinic, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Trinity Brethren Fellowship in Waynesboro, PA, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.  She also helped with the bible release program at Camp Joy-EL and was a member of Gideons International. She enjoyed being with her family and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Raymond B. (wife Cindy) Oberholzer Jr., Hagerstown, MD; Ramonna S. (husband Scott) Dayley, Greencastle, PA;  Rebecca D. (husband Ray) Shultz, Waynesboro, PA; Rosanne K. (husband Arlen) Lindsay, Greencastle, PA;  Rayetta J. (husband Gene) Spangler, Mercersburg, PA; and Rhonda J. McClelland, Nashville TN; thirteen grandchildren;  ten great-grandchildren;  a sister, Jackie Izer of Shady Grove, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond B. Oberholzer, Sr. with whom she would have celebrated their 75 th anniversary on Tuesday and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 12 noon in Antietam Cemetery, 10610 Wayne Hwy. Waynesboro, PA, where Rev. DelRay Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 9 – 11 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in her name to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
