Ronald L. "Pete" Goetz
Ronald L. "Pete" Goetz, age 79 of South Allison St. Greencastle, PA died at 5:15 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in his home.
Born May 3, 1934 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Catharine (Beeler) Goetz. He married Mary Lou (Meyers) Goetz on July 31, 1955 in Chambersburg.
Pete worked for the former Pangborn Company in Hagerstown for 40 years retiring in 2000. He was a 1952 graduate of Greencastle High School and served his apprenticeship in the engineering trade at Landis Tool of Waynesboro.
Pete was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ of Greencastle where he served as a deacon and elder and had been currently attending the Greencastle Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Greencastle Sportsman Association, West End Hunting Club and was past president of the Jerome King Playground Association of Greencastle. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Pete was an avid reader especially books on the civil war. He enjoyed traveling to Gettysburg with the grandchildren, spending time in Myrtle Beach during the winter, going out to eat and going on family cruises. Pete especially enjoyed time spent with his beloved family and being at his home.
Surviving family in addition to his wife of nearly 58 years are one daughter Kim Goetz, of Greencastle, three grandsons Nicholas Potter, Matthew Potter and Andrew Potter all of Greencastle, one sister Carolle A. Goetz Patrick of Greencastle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 13 at 10:00 A.M. from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle with Rev. Dr. Steven Robert Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will not be a public viewing but the family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Summit Cancer and Hematology Services Suite 100 755 Norland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
