Rodney Dean Bishop

Rodney Dean Bishop, Sr., age 82, of State Line, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 22, 1938, in Bud, WV, he was the son of the late Ray and Bertha Knuckles Bishop.

Mr. Bishop was a 1956 graduate of Herndon High School. He was employed at the Frick Company in Waynesboro most of his career as a machinist, retiring in 2002. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association and participated on several bowling leagues.  He enjoyed bowling, hunting, mowing, pitching horseshoes, including pitching in national and state tournaments, playing softball, and cheering for his beloved WVU Mountaineers and Washington Redskins.

Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Sally Walck Bishop, whom he married on July 29, 1993; two sons, Rodney Dean Bishop, Jr. of State Line, PA and Daniel Brian Bishop (wife Betty) of Greencastle, PA; two step-daughters, Diana Schuchman (husband Bill) of Greencastle, PA and Dana Szaflarski (husband Joe) of Greencastle, PA; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother Noel Bishop (wife Ruth) of VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, a son Gerald Steven Bishop, and a grandson, Michael Schuchman

Graveside services will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association, 3260 Sportsmans Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
