Robert B. Washburn, age 83 of 9890 Thompson Dr., Greencastle, Pa. died at 3:55 P.M. Wednesday October 27, 2010 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born October 27, 1927 in Arlington Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Gladys Irene (Dikens) Washburn.
His first wife, Eleanor (Decator) Washburn died on July 4, 2007.
Robert worked as a manager in the locomotive maintenance shop for the Boston and Maine Railroad for 38 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Robert was a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 of Greencastle, the American Legion Post of Clear Spring, MD and the F.O.E. of Waynesboro. He enjoyed music especially singing, karaoke and playing the keyboard.
Surviving family are his wife, Vivianne D. (Croteau) Beeler Washburn, whom he married on December 28, 2008, sons, Kenneth Washburn, Smithfield, PA., Richard Washburn, Windham, VT, daughter Sharon Washburn Flynn, Chicopee, MA., brother, George Washburn, Kingston, NH., two sisters Dorothy Crosby, Reading, MA,, Shirley McKenna, Florida, 14 grandchildren, four stepchildren, Jody Beeler Sr., Arnold E. Beeler, Candous Morgan, Denise Cramer, 7 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Robert B. Washburn Jr. and a sister Helen Barettes.
The family will be receiving friends at the Greencastle American Legion 254 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Saturday October 30 from 1- 4 P.M.
