Robert W. Statler of Greencastle graduated to heaven on December 13, 2022. He was born June 17, 1928, in Antrim Township to the late D. J. Raymond Statler and Blanche Hoover Statler. He attended Greencastle High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951, during the Korean Conflict in the 728th Ordinance Company, 28th division. He worked at the former C.A. Brand Chevrolet garage and the Pennsylvania Railroad. He retired from T.B. Woods after 35 years of service. In addition to those jobs, he was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Gearhart Statler, his son, Robert Dean Statler, brothers, David, Charles, Donald, Dean Thomas, Ivan, and Richard Statler and sister, Francis Keller. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie R. Statler of Greencastle, PA, and Robbie V. Kantner (Glenn) of Medford, NJ, 3 granddaughters, Brandy Kershner (Jeff), Rachel Eshbaugh (Adam), and Amy Picerno (Jeff), 6 great-grandchildren, Raeden, Jackson, Tyler, Rilynn, Emma and Micah, a sister, Evelyn Thompson and many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of The Open Door Church.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 11 AM at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastors Mike Sanders and Carl McKee will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18 from 6-8 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA and one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the above church and address.
