Robert Lee Oberholzer, age 67 of East Ave., PO Box 38, State Line, PA went home to be with the Lord after several years of declining health on Sunday, October 25, 2009 in his home.
Born November 1, 1941 in Maugansville, MD he was the son of the late Clifford C. and Cora E. (Showalter) Oberholzer.
He and his wife, Doris J. (Picking) Oberholzer were married September 20, 1970 in Greencastle, PA.
In his earlier years he worked at the former Maugansville Elevator and later worked at the former Corning Glass of Greencastle. He was a 1959 graduate of the Greencastle High School.
He was a member of the Upton Church of the Brethren and also attended the State Line United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the State Line Ruritan Club. He enjoyed gardening, singing, reading, walking and history.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are, son, Roger L. Oberholzer of Lexington, KY; daughter, Sherry L. (Wife of Dwayne B.) Miles of Shady Grove, PA; two brothers, Kenneth E. Oberholzer of Chambersburg, PA and Richard D. Oberholzer of Greencastle, PA; grandson, Brady A. Miles; five nieces, four nephews; step-mother, Elizabeth Martin Oberholzer of Chambersburg, PA; step-brother, Benjamin Martin of Mercersburg, PA; step-sister, Mary Lois Martin of Shady Grove, PA; two step-nieces and two step-nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 10:00 A.M. in the Upton Church Of The Brethren, 8490 Warm Spring Rd., Upton, PA with Minister Dennis Sollenberger and Pastor Ky Searcy officiating. Burial will be in the Meyers Cemetery, Welsh Run, PA. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Upton Church of the Brethren Improvement Fund, c/o Lawrence Lehman, 8490 Warm Spring Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Middleburg-Mason Dixon Historical Society Inc, PO Box 177, State Line, PA 17263 for community center and park improvements.
