Robert R. Michaels, Jr., age 87, a resident of Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle, PA died at 4:20 P.M., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in the nursing center.
Born May 23, 1920 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late Robert R. and Melissa (Bitsch) Michaels.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Hykes) Michaels whom he married on October 23, 1954. She died on November 30, 2000.
He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg retiring in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.
Mr. Michaels was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle. He was a member of the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 and the National Rifle Association. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

One Sister, Rosalie Snider of Chambersburg, PA.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Weaver and Marion McGehee.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. from the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA with Rev. James E. Hughes and Chaplain Robert Keener officiating. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Grace United Church of Christ, 128 East Baltimore St., Rescue Hose Company No. 1 Ambulance Squad, PO Box 457 both of Greencastle, PA 17225, or to the Penn Hall Benevolent Care Fund, 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
