Robert U. "Bob" Fitz

Robert U. “Bob” Fitz, age 89, of Red Lion, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA died Monday morning December 12, 2016 in his home surrounded by family.

Born November 17, 1927 in Shady Grove, PA, he was the son of the late David W. and Ida (Talhelm) Fitz.  He married his wife Virginia “Ginny” (Walck) Fitz on December 26, 1949.

Bob retired in 1989 after 37 years employment with the former Citizens National Bank and Susquehanna Bank, both of Greencastle.

He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he had served on church council. Bob was a member of the former Rotary Club of Greencastle where he served as President, member of the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Mount Pisgah Masonic Lodge #143 of Greencastle. Bob was a 1946 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Bob served for many years as the treasurer of the Greencastle Old Week Association. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years.  He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, watching Washington Redskins football and he especially enjoyed spending time and being with all his loving family.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of nearly 67 years are two daughters, MaryEllen (Fitz) Bowser & her husband Carl, Margaret (Fitz) Blaker and her husband Murray.  He is also survived by four grandchildren: Brian Bowser & wife Kathy, Robert Bowser & wife Kara, Abigail (Blaker) Bell & her husband Chad, Bradford Blaker & fiance Tayler Kuzma, and four great grandchildren

There will be a visitation at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle on Friday December 16  from 10:00 – 11:00 AM., immediately followed by a memorial service with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating.  Interment will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to Heartland Hospice 3417 Concord Rd., Suite A York, PA 17402.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com.
