Robert G. Crunkleton, age 90 of Greencastle, died at 8:20 A.M. Sunday, February 26, 2012 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born February 19, 1922 in State Line, PA, he was the son of the late A.G. and Dessie (Hause) Crunkleton.

He and his wife Ruth N. (Koons) Crunkleton were married on January 14, 1944. Robert was the owner of the former A.G. Crunkleton Electric of Greencastle.

He was a 1941 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Robert was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, where he served on church council. He had served as administrator of the John L. Grove Foundation; was a member for over 50 years of the Greencastle Lions Club; and served on the Greencastle Area Development Board for many years. He also served on the John L. Grove Medical Center Board; and was past chairman of the board of directors of the former Citizens National Bank of Greencastle.

Robert received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award which is one the highest recognitions of Lions Club International.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Ronald E. Koons and wife Dolly, two grandsons, Scott E. Koons and wife Linda and Matthew J. Koons and wife Kendra; three great-grandchildren Ethan, Joseph and Erin Koons ; as well as several nieces; all of Greencastle.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Hykes and Marie Minnich.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2:00 PM, at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with his pastor, Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Honor Guard will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday.
