Richard Grove "Dick" Smith, age 89 formerly a resident of the Trinity House of Waynesboro died at 9:38 A.M. Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the Golden Living Center of Gettysburg, PA where he been a resident since July 12.
Born June 30, 1924 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Earl K. and Emma (Grove) Smith. He had worked at OSI of Chambersburg, Grove Worldwide and also at Quincy Retirement Home.
Dick was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. # 1 of Greencastle. He had also been a member of the Cumberland Valley Firemen''s Association and the Franklin County Firemen''s Association.
Surviving family are one sister Dorothy Stottlemyer and husband Donald of Waynesboro and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Daniel Smith and Benjamin Smith and a niece Alice Mixon.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 13 at 11:00 AM from the Cedar Hill Cemetery of Greencastle with Rev. Susan D''heedene officiating. There will be no public viewing.
