Mr. Richard Ordine "Dick" Goetz, 84, of Greencastle, died early Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Betty Jane Gearhart Goetz, his wife of 60 years.

Born January 28, 1928, in Greencastle, he was a son of the late Linford "Jimmie" and Edna Olive Mills Goetz.

He retired from Beck Manufacturing, Greencastle, with forty-seven years of service.

Dick was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed gardening and hunting especially.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Ron E. Goetz and wife Linda of Mercersburg, and Patricia Hood and husband Richard of Centreville, Virginia; grandchildren Jennifer Gelsinger and husband Gary and Julie Goetz, all of Mercersburg, and Carol Hood of Manassas, Virginia; four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.; as well as siblings Lloyd Goetz of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Alvin Goetz and Joan Pine, both of Mercersburg, and Mary "Bonnie" Straley of Greencastle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death a brother, Linford Goetz, Jr.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, Thursday, August 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Chaplain John Winckler, of Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Browns Mill Cemetery, Greencastle.
