Richard G. Eby, age 70, of 3153 Williamson Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died at 9:30 P.M. Wednesday February 11, 2009 in the Chambersburg Hospital after suffering head injuries from a fall outside his home on Thursday February 5.

Born December 30, 1938 in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Allan H. and Naomi P. (Showalter) Eby.

Mr. Eby was a farmer, hauled cattle for 20 years and had worked at several of the local livestock auctions. He was currently employed as a truck driver for Lehman''s Egg Service near Greencastle.

Mr. Eby was a member of the Mercersburg Mennonite Church and a member of the Kauffman Ruritan Club where he served as chaplain. He also was a former member of the Longmeadow Fire Dept. where he served as chaplain.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding wildlife near his home, tractor pulls and taking his antique John Deere tractor to Twin Bridges Tractor Show.

He and his wife, Dorcas T. (Timmons) Eby were married December 19, 1992 in Marion Mennonite Church.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are, one son, Kenrick M. Eby, Chambersburg, Pa., daughter Camilla A. Ancell, Hagerstown, Md., two brothers, Donald L. Eby, Chambersburg, Pa, Elwood J. Eby, Greencastle, Pa., two sisters, Thelma F. Martin, Marion, Pa., Wanda J. Horst Greencastle, Pa., six grandchildren, Justin, Kevin, Cathy, James, Kelsi and Jacob and two great-grandsons, Julian and Race.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Arlene L. Baer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 14 at 2:00 P.M. from the Mercersburg Mennonite Church 10060 Buchanan Trail West Mercersburg with Revs. Allen Eshleman, David Possinger and Lloyd Gingrich officiating. Private burial at the convenience of the family will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given to the missions fund of the Mercersburg Mennonite Church 10060 Buchanan Trail West Mercersburg, Pa. 17236.
