Richard G. (Dick) Butler, age 67 of Greencastle, PA, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD, won a victory over pancreatic cancer when he defeated death and was born into eternal life on Saturday, October 19, 2013 reuniting him with his beloved wife, Donna, who preceded him into eternal life in 2009.

Dick leaves behind his wife, Kathleen, whose joyful spirit brought new happiness into his life as they planned new travels and adventures to be shared during their retirement years.  He also leaves behind a large extended family:  his daughter, Andrea Donato (and Durell), of Baltimore,  his stepdaughter, Andrea Everett and husband Larry, of Clinton, MD,  his stepdaughter, Dawn Beall and husband George, of Adamstown, MD, his stepson Matthew Hughson and wife Brooke of Mechanicsville, MD, his stepson Adam Hughson and Kellie of Mechanicsville, MD, nine grandchildren,  his beloved sister, Linda Saker of Front Royal, VA; brothers John, Paul and David Purdum of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Dick retired from Wells Fargo in 2011 following a 42-year career in employee benefit and retirement services technology that began with ACTI in 1969.  Dick was a long-time member of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club, serving in many capacities.  Dick was a veteran of the US Naval Reserve.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 23 from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark the Evangelist Church 385 South Ridge Ave. Greencastle, PA on Thursday October 24 at 11:00 AM with Father Joseph Stahura as celebrant, and the Reverend Mr. John DeWolfe serving as deacon. Military honors will be provided following the service by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard.  Interment will be at St. Rose of Lima Parish Cemetery in Gaithersburg, MD on Friday, October 25 at 11:30 AM.
