Rhoda H. Lehman, age 96 a resident of the Menno Haven Nursing Center Chambersburg and formerly of Bullitt Rd. Greencastle died at 4:55 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the nursing center.
Born July 3, 1915 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Nancy (Horst) Horst. Her husband Melvin M. Lehman died on February 12, 1995.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mercersburg Mennonite Church where she was a Bible School teacher and a member of the church sewing circle.
Rhoda enjoyed quilting having made a number of quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Surviving family are two daughters Lois C. (wife of John D.) Lehman and Nancy M. (wife of Leonard) Cordell, all of Chambersburg, six sons, Clifford E. (husband of June) Lehman, Marion, PA, Harold M. (husband of Bertha) Lehman, Easton, PA, Elmer E. (husband of Connie) Lehman, Upper Strasburg, PA, Amos F. Lehman, Arcanum, Ohio, Jonas L. (husband of Linda) Lehman, St. Thomas, PA, Lawrence A. (husband of Ruth) Lehman, Greencastle, one sister Fannie Horst, Maugansville, MD., one brother Alvin Horst, Ernstville, Md., twenty-seven grandchildren and forty six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four grandchildren and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 21 at 10:30 A.M. from the Mercersburg Mennonite Church 10060 Buchanan Trail West Mercersburg with Rev. Allen Eshleman and Chaplain Vernon Isner officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mercersburg Mennonite Church on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Benevolent Care Fund of Menno Haven 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
