Retha V. Daley

Retha V. (Stevens) Daley, age 107 of Mercersburg, PA died Saturday morning December 23, 2017 in her home.

Born June 10, 1910 in Clear Spring, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Emmert E. and Avis V. (Hoover) Stevens. Her husband Earl P. Daley died on August 30,  1981.

She was a homemaker and in her earlier life she worked at the former GEM Garment Co. in Greencastle. She and her husband also operated Daley’s Peach Orchard.

Retha was a faithful member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren where in her younger years was active on various church committees. She served as election officer at the voting polls at Welsh Run.

Surviving family are one daughter Joyce Amsley of Greencastle, PA, two sons, Wayne Daley of McConnellsburg, PA, Terry Daley and wife Ellen of Mercersburg, PA, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Ronald Daley, three sisters, Maude Beckwith, Jeanette Saylor, Fay Bradley and one brother Wilson Stevens.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 27 at 11:00 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Welsh Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Welsh Run, PA. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
